Tanvi Narendran of Rincon/University earned the D-1 singles state championship Monday, a cap to her memorable season in which the Arizona signee went 11-0 in her sets in April.
Her performance in which she outscored her opponents 68-2 merits her selection as the Jet Sports Training Female Athlete of the Month.
Narendran, the No. 1 seed in the state tournament, beat No. 2 Savanna Kollock (Desert Mountain) 6-2, 6-1 on Monday.
Rated a five-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network, she signed with Arizona last November.
“We are beyond excited that Tanvi took a search around the country (including Ivy League schools) and found out that being home is where she wants to be,” Arizona women’s tennis coach Ryan Stotland said. “Tanvi is one of the most intelligent individuals you will ever meet, and she uses that to her advantage on the tennis court.”
Narendran has a 4.6 weighted GPA and a score of 35 on the ACT.
