ST. DAVID – Ryan Gooding hit Kydin Richardson from 10 yards out to put St. David up 7-0 on Baboquivari less than one minute into their game Friday night and the Tigers were off. The Tigers scored 35 points in the first quarter and the team finished with over 300 yards of offense to come away with a 58-6 win to move to 2-0 on the year for the third season in a row.

St. David finished 10-2 last year with both losses coming to Mogollon including a 58-12 setback in the 1A state championship game last November. Mogollon has 22 straight victories dating back to 2020 and the Mustangs will visit St. David on Sept. 16. By then, that winning streak could be at 25…

Named one of “Arizona’s Heart & Sol” by KOLD and Casino del Sol, Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017 and a 2019 AZ Education News recognition. Andy was named an Honorary Flowing Wells Caballero in 2019, became a member of the Sunnyside Los Mezquites Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2021 and he was a member of the Amphi COVID-19 Blue Ribbon Committee. He earned a Distinguished Service Award from Amphitheater and he was recognized by the Sunnyside School District and by Tucson City Councilman Richard Fimbres.
