Survive and Advance Contest: Pick a Pac-12 winner, move on to next week

SurviveAdvance

The first Pac-12 game of the season is Saturday when USC hosts Washington State and with that is the start of a fun WILDABOUTAZCATS.net contest involving conference games.

Here is a breakdown of the contest:

— Contestants must pick the winner of one Pac-12 game each week. It is their lock of the week. This week you must pick between USC and Washington State since it’s the only conference game. If your pick wins, you advance to the next week. If the team loses, you are eliminated.

— Contestants can pick a Pac-12 team only twice in the season. That’s the limit. Twice. So if you pick Oregon or Stanford the first two chances you have, good luck the rest of the season.

— Tie-breaking system: With each pick, list the scoring margin of victory. If two or more contestants somehow last until the end of the season without getting eliminated, the score predictions will serve as the tie-breaker. The person with the closest score to the actual margin of victory wins.

— If the entire field loses their pick, everybody advances to the following week by default.

— If you advance and then miss making a selection the following week, you are eliminated.

— Because of time constraints on my part, I am limiting the contest field to only 50 (if I get that many responses) on a first-come, first-served basis. Those eligible to participate MUST ENTER THEIR PICK IN THE FACEBOOK COMMENTARY SECTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST and weekly posts that update results. An example of a pick: “USC by 10 over WSU”. That’s it. If you want to comment about your reason for the pick, feel free. If a person does not pick a margin with their pick, they will be charged the total actual points. Example: You pick USC without a margin and USC wins 21-17, you will be charged 38 points (the amount of points in the game). If you pick USC by 10 and the Trojans win 21-17, you are only charged six points (the difference in margin). The lowest margin difference wins the tie-breaker.

— I hope all of this makes sense. If you have questions, again POST THEM IN THE FACEBOOK COMMENTS SECTIONS BELOW. Those of you who do not have a Facebook account, I apologize. This form of commentary works best to eliminate frustrating and annoying spam comments.

— In terms of a prize, that is in the works. I will award something. For now, the love of competition will suffice. You are a competitor, aren’t you? Let the picks begin. DON’T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR PICK BELOW IN THE FACEBOOK COMMENTS SECTION (USC vs. WAZZU) AND THE MARGIN OF VICTORY. …
