No. 37 facts about Arizona’s hoops program as we are now 37 days from tip-off:
— The Wildcats shot 37.1 percent from three-point range last year, which was the best mark in the post-Lute Olson era. Nick Johnson (39.3) is the best three-point shooter returning. Grant Jerrett (40.5), Kevin Parrom (39.6) and Solomon Hill (39.0) are gone.
— The only bright spot in Arizona’s loss to Cal at McKale Center last year was Johnson playing 37 minutes with five assists and no turnovers. Sean Miller needs more of that from the junior this season.
— Olson’s teams defeated ranked opponents 37 times at McKale Center over a 24-year span. He lost 19 times.
— Arizona held NAU to a McKale Center-record low of 37 points in an 84-37 win over the Lumberjacks on Dec. 6, 1989.
— Eric Money scored 37 points twice as a freshman in 1972-73 and he was the UA’s point guard without a shot clock and three-point line at that time.
Note: No Arizona players have worn jersey numbers 36-39.
