Former Arizona placekicker Nick Folk kicked another game-winning field goal for the New York Jets in their 30-28 victory at Atlanta tonight.
Folk nailed a 43-yarder as time expired. It is his seventh game-winning field goal in his seven-year NFL career. He made a 48-yarder to beat Tampa Bay in the season opener.
“Even our kicker is fearless,” New York coach Rex Ryan told reporters. “‘Folk Hero’, I already have that one written for everybody.”
Folk, the second-most accurate NFL kicker since 1991 in the fourth quarter, is 9-for-9 with his field goal attempts this season.
He made game-winning kicks in the NFL that include a 32-yarder in the playoffs against the Colts in 2011 and 33-yarder against Miami last September. The kick against the Dolphins was made in overtime.
Anthony Gimino of TucsonCitizen.com ran a list of Folk’s game-winners in his blog earlier this season.
“I like the situation,” Folk told The Journal News last month. “I don’t find it intimidating and I just face the pressure.”
