B.J. Denker is three yards shy of gaining the most rushing yards for a quarterback in Arizona’s Pac-10/12 existence

His Arizona Wildcats teammate Ka’Deem Carey is in hot pursuit of a couple of significant Arizona career rushing marks and quarterback predecessor Nick Foles had an NFL record-setting day for Philadelphia yesterday.

Who would have thought Arizona Wildcats senior B.J. Denker — yes, that B.J. Denker, who had only 445 passing yards through the first four games — is a record-breaking player himself?

Denker is only three rushing yards shy of Ron Veal’s Arizona Wildcats quarterback record of 566 in a season. Veal will be in attendance Saturday for Homecoming against UCLA to witness Denker try to surpass the mark.

He had three touchdown runs and finished with 44 rushing yards in the 33-28 win over Cal on Saturday. He completed 24 of 38 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown.

Denker’s 11 rushing touchdowns this season are the most for a UA quarterback in the history of the program. He also has only three interceptions in his first 234 attempts, one of the best ratios in the program’s history. Here are some graphics of Denker’s place in UA history:
