Arizona signee Kadeem Allen, a Hutchinson (Kan.) Junior College shooting guard, is of the same kind of talent as former Wildcats Jason Gardner and Khalid Reeves when it comes to aggressive play.
Allen can beat a team in various ways, averaging 28.6 points and 7.4 rebounds despite being 6’3″, but he can be most dangerous at the free-throw line for the Blue Dragons.
Gardner ranks second in Arizona history with 516 free throws made and Reeves is fourth with 447. Allen broke Hutchinson’s record for most career free throws made (341) in the Blue Dragons’ 98-76 loss to Seward County Saturday night in Liberal, Kan.
It took Gardner and Reeves four years to reach their marks, but they each averaged well over 100 free throws made a season. Gardner averaged 129 free throws out of 165.8 attempts each season. Reeves: 111.8 out of 146.5 attempts.
In his less than two seasons with Hutchinson, Allen has attempted 465 free throws and converted 331, 71.2 percent. He is averaging 165.5 free throws made out of an eye-popping 232.5 attempts in each season. That is almost 60 more attempts than Gardner attempted each season.

Turns out that high-profile Class of 2015 Arizona commit Tyler Dorsey did not play with Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco in the Spalding HoopHall Classic this weekend because of a suspension levied by his parents in relation to a final-exam performance, according to AAU and youth basketball organizer Dinos Trigonis.
UConn-bound Daniel Hamilton scored 25 points in Dorsey’s absence Saturday to help St. John Bosco defeat St. Frances Academy of Baltimore 63-60 in the Springfield, Mass., tournament.
