CBS and Sports Illustrated college basketball analyst Seth Davis rated his “Fresh Faces in New Places” segment today and chose Arizona junior point guard T.J. McConnell as the transfer making the most impact on his new team in 2013-14.
“Like (Sean) Miller, McConnell is a Pittsburgh native and the two of them have brought a taste of their blue-collar home to the desert and it’s working big time,” Davis says in the video.
McConnell is in his first season with the Wildcats after playing two seasons with Duquesne. Davis ranks Iowa State guard DeAndre Kane (Marshall) at No. 2 and Duke forward Rodney Hood (Mississippi State) at No. 3.
McConnell’s impact with Arizona statistically:
— No. 23 nationally and No. 2 in the Pac-12 in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.03).
— No. 14 nationally and No. 3 in the Pac-12 in assist average per game (6.3).
— No. 9 nationally and No. 1 in the Pac-12 in total assists (100).
— No. 3 in the Pac-12 in steals per game (1.88).
