Three former Arizona Wildcats found a new home within the last month as they continue their dream of playing professionally.

Mark Lyons, whom had his best game at ASU last year, was released by Roanne of France last month because of problems related to his visa. Lyons was signed by KK Zadar of the Croatian A-1 pro league Monday.

Mustafa Shakur, acquired recently from Eria (Pa.) by Tulsa in the NBA’s D-League, scored a game-high 29 points in the 66ers’ 106-104 victory over Delaware last week. Shakur is a two-time NBA Development League All-Star who has previously played for both the 66ers and the parent Oklahoma City Thunder.

He is a teammate of former Arizona forward Grant Jerrett and Colorado forward Andre Roberson with Tulsa.

“The Tree”, Alex Jacobson, is getting another chance at professional basketball in Uruguay. Jacobson, who played three games in Canada for Moncton before his release early this season, was signed by Montevideo last week in time for the playoffs in that country.

After biding his time in the D-League last year, former Arizona guard Kyle Fogg is making a significant impact in Finland with former Wildcat teammate Jesse Perry.

He was named Finland’s player of the month in January when he averaged 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6 assists a game.

Fogg complimented current members of the Arizona basketball team for helping him earn such an honor with this Facebook post:

Channing Frye is succeeding by not placing pressure on himself

Former Arizona center Channing Frye is a leading candidate to earn the NBA’s Comeback Player of the Year with how he has performed for the Suns this year after missing last season with a heart issue.

Frye told the Arizona Rebublic’s Paul Coro last week that his outlook on the game changed when he was required to sit out the entire season. He is now 30 and mature enough to handle situations more professionally.

“I put so much pressure on myself,” Frye told Coro of previous seasons. “I understood, but I didn’t put it into the mental effect that teams are playing me different, and it’s my job to continue doing what I’m doing, except they’re not going to let me get shots.

“I’ve done a pretty good job of continuing to shoot and understanding that some weeks I’m going to average 12 points and others I’m going to average 20. Hopefully, I’ve been consistent in my energy and making sure guys are doing the right things. I’m proud that my downs haven’t been for too long.”
