Arizona coach Sean Miller will get the opportunity to coach his high-profile Class of 2014 recruit Stanley Johnson this summer during the Under-18 FIBA Americas Championships.
Miller, an assistant to Florida coach Billy Donovan, can closely observe Johnson first during the tryout session in Colorado Springs, Colo., from June 10-19. The tournament will be held this year in Colorado Springs from June 20-24.
Johnson is coming off his fourth straight California Open Division state title with Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei High School. He is presently in Chicago preparing for the McDonald’s All-American Game tomorrow at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
The West team, of which Johnson will play for, is coached by Elliott Pitts’ former high school coach, Frank Allocco of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle High School.
#Arizona signee Stanley Johnson has been one of top performers. Defense stood out early but also has passed very well, rebounded and scored.
