Arizona football coach Rich Rodriguez and his staff again drew from two recognizable pools of talent — a transfer from a major-college program and the state of Florida — in landing their latest commitment tonight.
Dami Ayoola, a running back with a checkered past at Illinois, has committed to the Wildcats. Ayoola, from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is attending Arizona Western.
Arizona has developed a pipeline from Florida and from other programs. Arizona has seven prospects from Florida on the 2014 roster. Rodriuguez has 10 transfers from other programs.
Ayoola did not play for the Fighting Illini last season after he was dismissed from the team in September by coach Tim Beckman. Ayoola was reinstated to the team in December and participated in spring drills with Illinois before leaving to Arizona Western.
As a freshman in 2012, Ayoola gained 117 yards on 26 carries. By not playing last year and attending Arizona Western for one year, Ayoola should have two years of eligibility remaining when he attends Arizona next year.
Check out the first highlight of Ayoola breaking free from a series of tackles before sprinting to the end zone for Illinois in 2012.
Ayoola was one of the nation’s top 50 running backs out of high school. Arizona and ASU were in hot pursuit of him after he transferred to Arizona Western.

In other Arizona football news, former quarterback Matt Scott has found a new home with Cincinnati. He was on Jacksonville’s practice squad last year as a rookie. With Blake Bortles drafted high by the Jaguars, Scott was waived. Scott will be reunited with former Arizona teammate Marquis Flowers, a rookie linebacker with the Bengals when training camp opens.
Cant express how glad I am to be a part of the Cincinnati Bengals! Cant wait to get in and get to work! #Bengals
