The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to try to keep a presence in Southern Arizona with their Triple-A affiliate and spring-training operations gone from Tucson.
Longtime Tucson minor-league baseball administrator and community activist Mike Feder is handling the Diamondbacks’ operations in the Tucson area.
The Diamondbacks announced recently through Feder that they will offer a Baseball Academy Summer Camp (June 23-27) for aspiring baseball players between ages 6-12. They are labeling the event “Play the D-backs Way”. It will be held at Mehl Park, located on River Road between Alvernon and Swan.
The cost is $175 per camp participant. The hours are 8-11 a.m. daily. Registration is now own at DBacks.com/academy or by calling (800) 821-7152.
Each camp day and session is highly choreographed to maximize participation and activity time. To ensure quality instruction, enrollment is limited to a 1:10 ratio of instructor-to-student.
The D-backs Baseball Academy, now in its 15th season, has taught thousands of kids to play the game in a highly professional way. Twenty-three camps are scheduled in Arizona this summer. The D-backs Baseball Academy will also take place in Yuma on June 9-13 and Sierra Vista on July 14–18.
Youth camp registration includes a D-backs cap, t-shirt and free tickets to a 2014 home game.
