It was a great night for the Pac-12 in general with nine draft picks, including a conference-best six first-round picks. Remember when league champion Washington didn’t make the NCAA tournament in 2012? The Pac is back.
Final tally of Power Five conference selections in #NBADraft:
#Pac12 9
ACC 9
Big Ten 7
SEC 6
Big 12 5

And we’re talking about one of the best young minds in the coaching ranks these days …
In my mind, Nick Johnson is going to be a very good NBA player. #APlayersProgram

Aaron Gordon, among other things, tells the Orlando (Fla.) media tonight that he is so eager to get started that he wants to learn the Magic’s playbook yesterday. He said he wants to be the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year during his NBA career. He added that he trusts his jumper more now than he did at Arizona. He also sounded very pleasantly surprised that his former FIBA U19 teammate Elfrid Payton will be his teammate at Orlando.

Gordon’s suit tonight was a perfect color (he admits he did not know Orlando would take him until five minutes before his selection was announced).

While his physical talents speak for themselves, the most impressive thing about @IamAaronGordon is that he’s the ultimate winner.
— Sean Miller (@UACoachMiller) June 27, 2014
Being as young, smart and resilient as @IamAaronGordon is, he has as great of an upside as anyone picked in this year’s draft.
— Sean Miller (@UACoachMiller) June 27, 2014
Where he’ll be 3 to 5 years from now will be a much different place than today because of his work ethic, discipline & drive to be the best.

Nick is far from being a finished product. He has tremendous upside and an incredible work ethic. @Air_Zona13 is the ultimate team player…
— Sean Miller (@UACoachMiller) June 27, 2014
…and when he’s given a role in the Rockets organization, he’s going to fulfill that role through hard work & a willingness to be coached.

Johnson had a premonition it would be the Rockets.
Nick Johnson said he thought he knew what teams liked him coming into the draft and Houston was definitely one of them in his mind.

Gordon has already picked out his number for Orlando.
Aaron Gordon has chosen to wear number 00 (double zero) for the Magic. Unique… lol
