Southern Arizona State Boys Cross Country Championships

Championships began in 1955.

Catalina Foothills is the dominant team. Ron Grant started off the last decade with three straight championships and Doug Keen ended the decade with three straight wins. In all, Keen led the Falcons to four of their eight titles.

Grant moved over to Sunnyside where he won one more to give him four titles also.

Grant was not the only to coach to win at more than one school. Roger Bristow won one at Tombstone before moving on to Rio Rico where he won two more.

Southern Arizona’s first title was earned by Tucson High’s Hendrik Cornelis “Hank” de Bruin in 1955. Hank de Bruin passed away at the age of 83 in 2012.
