Arizona was 21-0 with Brandon Ashley in the lineup for the entire game.
When Ashley went down with a season-ending foot injury early in the game at Cal on Feb. 1, 2014, the Wildcats’ fortunes changed without Ashley’s presence on the frontcourt.
ESPN’s Myron Medcalf documents today Ashley’s return both physically and psychologically from the foot injury and how the setback affected his teammates last season. Ashley’s presence this season as a junior leader is a welcome sight by the Wildcats.
The ESPN feature also highlights the detailed treatment and motivation provided by Arizona basketball trainer Justin Kokoskie.
Ashley learned a lot about perseverance off the court with life in general during his rehab.
“Actually, I saw this quote earlier today and it said that ‘I believed that life was unfair until I realized that it is fair because it’s unfair to everyone’ and it’s like, everyone kind of goes through their own trials and tribulations,” he told ESPN. “I guess this is just mine.”
