In the report about Jay Johnson bringing pitching coach Dave Lawn with him from Nevada, AZDesertSwarm.com reports that “Lawn has a ton of experience in the Pac-12, having coached ten years at Cal and eight at USC.”
During his time at USC, former Chicago Cubs pitcher Mark Prior and San Diego Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy came through the program.
“We’re going to hire two coaches that are among the best at recruiting and developing players, and they’ll be great fits at Arizona for the 2016 season,” Johnson said at his introductory press conference. “I had a tremendous staff at the University of Nevada. I’ve really been fortunate enough to coach with some of the best coaches in our game, and (Lawn) is a special coach. He does a great job, like the rest of my staff.”
