Compiling three off-the-beaten-path storylines of Arizona’s game with Oregon State tomorrow while wondering if the Mike Riley jinx (six straight losses for Arizona to the Beavers in Tucson) is over now that he’s far away in Lincoln, Neb. …

ANOTHER TRUE FRESHMAN PAC-12 QB

Arizona will face three true freshmen quarterbacks this season in the Pac-12 — UCLA’s Josh Rosen, Oregon State’s Seth Collins and Washington’s Jake Browning.

Collins, more of a running quarterback than Rosen and Browning, is the least publicized of the three. He was only a two-star-rated player by Rivals.com coming out of El Cajon (Calif.) Granite Hills High School last year.

USC and Utah looked at him more as an athlete. San Jose State, Colorado State and Oregon State offered him a scholarship.

Collins was a teammate last year of Arizona Class of 2016 defensive end commit Jacob Burton, who is a senior at Granite Hills.

Oregon State is keeping the offensive playbook basic for Collins. He has only one interception in his first 95 passing attempts. He’s completed 52 passes for 581 yards. He has rushed for 306 yards on 57 attempts.

His predecessor at Oregon State, pocket-passer Sean Mannion, is listed with minus-804 yards on 132 carries (many of them obviously sacks) in his four-year career.

Mannion, by the way, is Nick Foles’ backup with St. Louis. How much do those guys have wagered on tomorrow’s game?
