SALPOINTE/TUCSON STORY AT AZPreps365.com

DIVISION II

Section I
Sunnyside (6-3, 3-1)
Tucson (6-3, 2-2)
Salpointe (5-4, 3-1)
Sahuaro (4-5, 2-2)

Section III
Queen Creek (7-2, 3-0)
Ironwood Ridge (7-2, 3-1)
Mountain View (6-3, 1-2)

Sunnyside: Should make the playoffs regardless due to power points but the Blue Devils still control their own destiny and will win their section if they defeat Tucson next Friday.

Tucson: The Badgers need to beat Sunnyside to remain in the running for an at-large berth. If Cienega beats Salpointe then the section title will be based on division record.

Salpointe: If the Lancers beat Cienega and Tucson defeats Sunnyside then they will be section champs. Beating Cienega may keep the Lancers in the top 16.

Sahuaro: The Cougars have to wait until Tuesday to see where they are ranked heading into their final game at 0-9 Buena. Does not look good.

Ironwood Ridge: The Nighthawks are in but Mountain View losing to Canyon del Oro will hurt their chances of getting into the top four.

Mountain View: Like Sahuaro, the Mountain Lions will be looking at the rankings on Tuesday to see how far they fell. Their game at home against Ironwood Ridge becomes a playoff game.

The NFL is presenting Golden Footballs to high schools that produced players who made it to a Super Bowl. John Fina played for Salpointe, Arizona and the Buffalo Bills. Benson got their Golden Football last week thanks to former Benson, Arizona and Dallas Cowboy punter Mitch Hoopes.

DIVISION III

Section VI
Catalina Foothills (8-2, 5-1)
Sabino (7-1, 4-1)
Marana (6-3, 4-1)

Catalina Foothills: In the playoffs and hoping for a home game. Can win section if Marana loses to Sabino.

Sabino: Also in the playoffs. Cannot win section though.

Marana: If the Tigers beat Sabino then they will claim the section title but if Sabino wins Marana might be left out of the playoffs. Crazy high-stake game.

DIVISION IV

Section II
Pueblo (6-3, 5-0)
Thatcher (6-3, 5-1)

Section VI
Pusch Ridge (8-1, 5-0)
Flowing Wells (8-1, 4-1)

Pueblo: Section champs but might end up outside the top 16 with Santa Rita remaining on their schedule.

Thatcher: May not be enough power points to get in.

Pusch Ridge: Section champs. Hoping for a home playoff game.

Flowing Wells: Also hoping for a home playoff game.

DIVISION V

Section II
Benson (9-0, 4-0)
Bisbee (6-2, 3-1)

Section VIII
Santa Cruz (7-2, 4-1)

Benson: Section champs and top seed.

Bisbee: Trying to host a playoff game.

Santa Cruz: Playoff bound.
