Woods’ impact — Defensive stopper
No shot came easy against the 7’1″ Woods, who played two years with Arizona playing his freshman and sophomore seasons with Wake Forest. He did not pan out as the second coming of Tim Duncan with the Demon Deacons but he became one of the best centers to play for Lute Olson. Woods, a significant reason why Arizona advanced to the 2001 national title game, had 186 blocked shots in his two seasons with the Wildcats. He was also a capable passer as a big man, averaging 2.1 assists per game as a senior.
