VOLLEYBALL BRACKETS
Salpointe and Sahuaro were the only Division II teams from Southern Arizona to make it past the first round.
The Lancers swept No. 13 Seton Catholic at home 25-8, 25-21 and 25-19. No. 4 Salpointe will host No. 12 Mesquite on Thursday night in the second round.
Mesquite upset No. 5 Ironwood Ridge 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 to set up the match at Salpointe.
The Nighthawks gave up six aces and collected four service errors in the first set alone to help set the tone for the match. Having difficulty scoring, the biggest lead for Ironwood Ridge came in the third set when the Nighthawks recorded a 19-17 lead.
The set was ultimately tied up at 23-23 but Mesquite scored the last two points for the win. The second set featured six ties and seven lead changes but Mesquite pulled away at the end.
Tucson lost to Flagstaff 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20 and Rincon/UHS lost to Millenium 25-12, 25-21 and 25-9.
No. 10 Sahuaro up set No.7 Prescott 18-25, 25-22, 25-18 and 25-21. The Cougars will not take a shot at Millenium.
