Football Playoffs: Ironwood Ridge & Catalina Foothills survive

….The Ironwood Ridge/Sunnyside game was a rematch of last year’s first round game where Sunnyside upset No. 2 Ironwood Ridge 35-14. There was no upset this year but the game was just as entertaining and the outcome was in doubt until the final seconds.

Sunnyside (6-5) was led by senior quarterback Nick O’Hagin. O’Hagin threw for 133 yards and rushed for 236 more. On the other side, junior QB Cole Gerken threw for 237 yards with four touchdowns to lead Ironwood Ridge. It was a classic back-and-forth battle….

No. 16 Sahuaro lost to No. 1 Skyline, 15-10

No. 4 Ironwood Ridge hosts No.5 Marcos de Niza, 7 p.m.

Division III

First Round: Friday, Nov. 6
No. 6 Sabino lost to No. 11 Cesar Chavez , 37-12
No. 8 Catalina Foothills beat No. 9 Cibola, 21-16

Quarterfinals: Friday, Nov. 13
No. 8 Catalina Foothills at No. 1 Paradise Valley, 7 p.m.

Division IV

First Round: Saturday, Nov. 7 (6 p.m.)
No. 3 Pusch Ridge hosts No. 14 Payson
No. 9 Flowing Wells at No. 8 Northwest Christian
No. 13 Pueblo at No. 4 Estrella Foothills

Division V
