In his last game as a Wildcat, Scooby Wright tallied a game-high 15 tackles with two sacks and 3.5 tackles for lost yardage in Arizona’s 45-37 win in the New Mexico Bowl.
He earned the honor as the game’s most outstanding defensive player. His sack of New Mexico quarterback Austin Apodaca on fourth down with six minutes left proved to be a game-clinching play. He later pressured Apodaca, who thew an interception hauled in by Cam Denson, on the Lobos’ last offensive play.
In Arizona’s previous bowl, last year in the Fiesta Bowl, Wright also excelled with 10 tackles, two for lost yardage.
