Arry Bracamonte hits walk-off homer for Phoenix College

The NJCAA DII Softball Championship got underway Wednesday with No. 1 Phoenix College taking out No. 16 Potomac State 10-2 in the first round. The 16-team playoff is taking place in Clinton, Mississippi with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, May 21.

Six standouts from Southern Arizona are on the Phoenix College (54-6-1) roster:

Arryanna Bracamonte, Flowing Wells
Mari Ruiz, Cholla
Andrea Lugo, Douglas
Marissa Morales, Douglas
Emerald Grijalva, Nogales
Dominique Payne, Salpointe

The Bears run-ruled Potomac State in five innings. Arry Bracamonte led Phoenix College by going 2-for-3 including a 2-run blast to end the game. The Bears hit five home runs in the game.

Phoenix College will face No. 9 Labette (Kansas) on Thursday in the second round.
