Former Arizona Wildcats defensive end Reggie Gilbert is officially listed at outside linebacker by the Green Bay Packers but last night against Cleveland and former teammate Scooby Wright III, he was placed on the edge of the line.

His jersey number changed from 46 (customary for an NFL linebacker and what he has worn during practices) to 93 for the game.

With his athleticism matched with good size (6’3″ and 261), Gilbert as a defensive end consistently put pressure on Cleveland’s quarterbacks, most notably former USC nemesis Cody Kessler in the third quarter of Green Bay’s 17-11 win at Lambeau Field.

Gilbert broke free, almost untouched to Kessler in the end zone. Kessler showing his rookie ways, ran out of bounds in the back of the end zone allowing Gilbert a safety and sack. He finished with two tackles.

“I’ve always felt most comfortable on the edge whether I’m in two point or three-point stance,” Gilbert told NFCNBarroom.com earlier in the week.

Wright, who like Gilbert played in the second half, also registered two tackles for the Browns. He was active on the field, pursuing nearly every play aggressively. He showed that he is fully healthy after his injury-marred season last year with the Wildcats.
