Class of 2017 Arizona Wildcats commit Drew Dixon, a running back/receiver at Sabino High School, is the No. 5 rusher in the nation according to stats published by MaxPreps.com.
Dixon rushed for 280 yard on 27 carries with four touchdowns in Sabino’s 41-35 win over visiting Sahuaro on Thursday night. His longest gain was 47 yards.
According to the MaxPreps.com stats, which rely on schools to report statistics, Greensburg (Ind.) South Decatur High School running back Damon Allen leads the nation with 314 yards on 22 carries, achieved against North Decatur in a 33-8 win Thursday.

Dixon was one of 21 players nationally who scored four touchdowns. Lyn-J Dixon of Butler (Ga.) Taylor County leads the country with five touchdowns, achieved in a 35-21 win over Dawson (Ga.) Terrell County on Friday night.
Salpointe Catholic’s Mario Padilla was the only other Tucson-area back who gained more than 100 yards rushing in the first week of the season, according to MaxPreps.com, with 134 yards on 20 carries in a 20-12 win at Phoenix St. Mary’s Friday night.
Dixon is the state’s No. 9 receiver with 81 yards against Sahuaro on seven receptions.
