As we first reported last Friday night, Rincon/University standout Ty Grigsby’s eight-touchdown performance against Buena set a new state record for the 5A/6A division. Grigsby passed legendary Tucson and University of Arizona standout Ted Bland on the list. Bland set the record of seven TDs way back in 1931. Since then, three others matched that mark including former Amphitheater great Antrel Bates.
Grigsby is now alone at the top as far as the “Big Schools” go. Former Saguaro great D.J. Foster recorded 10 TDs in 2011 in the 4A division.
