As expected, Arizona’s weekly voluntary injury report is lengthy.
Let’s start with the quarterbacks.
Brandon Dawkins is listed as questionable because of a rib injury suffered last week. “Questionable” has often trended toward “doubtful” this year, but we’ll see. The fact that he’s not listed as “out,” lends one to believe that he could at least be available, if not to start.
That start likely will go to true freshman Khalil Tate, considered Arizona’s other scholarship quarterback, Anu Solomon, is listed as doubtful because of a knee injury. So, Solomon’s five-week status on the injury list has been questionable-questionable-questionable-out-doubtful. Go figure.
OK, elsewhere …
Two starting offensive linemen are listed as probable — right guard Jacob Alsadek (shoulder) and right tackle Gerhard de Beer (ankle). That’s good news. De Beer was seen as recently as Wednesday in walking boot, so, again, we’ll see.
Starting linebacker DeAndre’ Miller, who has missed the past two games because of an ankle injury, is also listed as probable. He was seen after practice this week — and not in a walking boot. Arizona could use a guy who is probably its best defensive playmaker.
Joining Dawkins in the questionable category are starting left guard Freddie Tagaloa (knee) and running back Nick Wilson (ankle). Credit to Wilson for giving it a go last week before limping off, but it seems wise to not expect too much from him this week, if he is able to play.
There is a new guy who is listed as “out.” That would be defensive lineman Luca Bruno (ankle). Fullback Jamardre Cobb (knee), receiver Shawn Poindexter (foot) and starting nose tackle Parker Zellers (knee) remain out.
Arizona plays at Utah on Saturday night.
