Arizona recruit Drew Dixon caught two touchdown passes from Alex Bell and threw two touchdown passes in the first half to help Sabino take a 35-0 lead in a Class 2A state quarterfinal game Saturday night.
The Sabercats rolled from there to a 48-0 victory, setting up a semifinal showdown with top seed Show Low (12-0) next Saturday at Gilbert Williams Field High School at 6:30 p.m.
Dixon capped the scoring in the first half, hitting Damen Gibson on a 21-yard touchdown pass. Sabino took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter when Dixon hit Bennett Nottingham for a 34-yard touchdown after scrambling free from Winslow’s defenders.
In the second quarter, Bell threw a 21-yard touchdown to Dixon on a fourth-and-goal play.

Taylr Killian scored on a 2-yard run to give Sabino a 28-0 lead late in the second quarter.
Bell threw two more touchdown passes in the second half, a 66-yard completion to Andrew Carlsen and 15-yard strike to Luke Moran.
Dixon had seven receptions for 138 yards in addition to completing 3 of 4 passes for 72 yards. Bell completed 18 of 30 pass attempts for 329 yards.
Carlsen had eight receptions for 157 yards.
Leading Sabino’s shutout effort, linebacker James Offerman had 12 tackles.

Benson plays top seed Round Valley in the 2A semifinals next Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Fountain Hills High School.
