Pima Community College women’s basketball standout Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde) was named NJCAA Division II Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15.
She was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the third time on Tuesday. She had previously won it for the week of Dec. 5-11 and on Nov. 21 for her play at the beginning of the season.
The Aztecs put two back in the win column after they defeated Phoenix College at the West Campus and at Central Arizona College. Stallworth averaged 30 points 7.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds. She also shot 51 percent from the floor and 58 percent from three-point range.
Stallworth is averaging 15.3 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.
This list was updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who had gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but college and professional awards. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know. amoralesmytucson@yahoo.com
