Legendary Cholla coach Paul Dull passed away

Legendary Cholla basketball coach Paul Dull passed away last night according reports from his family and friends. Dull coached the 1992 boys team to the 4A state championship.

He earned a record of 185-135 from 1985-97 with the boys and a 63-39 record over five years with the girls (1993-98)

He served as Cholla’s swim coach prior to that and had basketball coaching experience at Canyon del Oro, Salpointe and Palo Verde. He was a champion swimmer when he was a student at Palo Verde.

Dull was inducted into the Pima Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. The AIA will recognize the 25th Anniversary of his championship this year.

Former Nogales boys’ basketball coach Ray Molera passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, Douglas championship soccer coach Ken Cormier passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18 and former Cholla girl’s coach Mike Argraves passed away on Dec. 23.
