ESPN GameDay says no thanks to Arizona-Oregon

There will be plenty of good Pac-12 games the rest of the seasons, but one stands far above the rest. Arizona at Oregon on Feb. 4 will probably be for the whole conference enchilada.

Both teams are currently unbeaten in Pac-12 play and figure to be that way when they meet for the only time this season. They likely will each be ranked in the AP top five.

If there was ever a time for ESPN to pay attention — and the UA-UO game is actually on ESPN — this would be it.

Instead, its College GameDay show will be in Gainesville, Fla., for Kentucky at Florida. Kentucky is currently No. 4; the Gators are ranked 25th.

That will be, by the way, the second consecutive week that GameDay will be covering a Kentucky game.

OK, we get it already.

Listen, Arizona has been getting plenty of national love, a lot of it from ESPN. The Cats get their due. And, yes, ESPN had a closer relationship to the SEC (with the SEC Network) than the Pac-12. But wouldn’t it be nice for them to head west instead of having to choke down another helping of Kentucky?

Well, ESPN, there is still UCLA at Arizona on Feb. 25 to consider.
