The Arizona Wildcats’ 62-58 win over rival ASU at McKale Center on Friday night increased the Territorial Cup lead for the UA this school year to 4.5 to 1.5 over the Sun Devils.
The victory gives Arizona a 1/2 point in the standings. The Wildcats play ASU right away on Sunday in Tempe, where the teams will battle for the other 1/2 point.
Adia Barnes, in her first year as a head coach at her alma mater, has led the Wildcats to a 13-13 record overall and 4-11 in the Pac-12. They have won consecutive games after snapping a seven-game losing streak with a win at Washington State last weekend.

Arizona has already earned points in volleyball, women’s cross country, women’s soccer and football in matchups against ASU. The Wildcats placed ahead of ASU in women’s cross country in the Pac-12 meet (eighth place vs. ASU’s 10th place).
ASU has a point in men’s cross country (eighth place in the Pac-12 meet compared to ninth place for Arizona) and a 1/2 point with a volleyball victory.
The Sun Devils have won the Territorial Cup competition the last three years. They tied four years ago, so Arizona has not finished on top since 2011-12.
