Sarah Macdonald (Seattle Pacific)
Former Pusch Ridge distance runner Sarah Macdonald earned All-American status at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships held Mar. 10.
Macdonald was part of the Seattle Pacific women’s distance medley relay team that took eighth place.
PacWest Softball Pitcher of the Week was former Tanque Verde standout Kellye Springstead (California Baptist). The award was based on games played March 20-26.
Springstead went 2-0 and earned a save in three appearances on the week. She allowed three runs (two earned) and 11 hits in 16.2 innings, and struck out 18. She threw 2.2 no-hit innings to close out the first game against Chaminade, with the only base runner reaching on a hit-by-pitch. She was dominant in a nine-inning 2-1 win over Hawai’i Pacific, allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks, and striking out 12. She retired the Sharks in order in four of the nine innings. She was back in the circle for the first game against BYU-Hawaii, allowing two runs and striking out four in 5.0 innings. Springstead is 6-2 with a 1.73 ERA and is third in the PacWest in strikeouts (65).
