Arizona Wildcats softball great presents Gatorade Player of Year award in unique way

Arizona Wildcats legendary softball pitcher Jennie Finch Daigle recently presented the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award to this year’s winner posing as somebody else.

The award winner, Taylor Dockins of Norco High School, set the CIF-Southern Section’s record with 108 career wins. She is the 19th recipient of Gatorade’s National Softball Player of the Year award (former Canyon del Oro and Arizona standout Kenzie Fowler was honored twice, in 2008 and 2009).

Dockins, who is bound for Cal State Fullerton, frequents Xpresso Urban Cafe. A new “employee” was working there one morning this week.

Standing at the corner when Dockins walked up to receive her order was Finch Daigle, the two-time Olympian and Arizona great. Finch Daigle was not only there to give Dockins her iced coffee drink. She shocked Dockins by her appearance and by also presenting her the Gatorade National Player of the Year trophy.
