STAR OF THE NIGHT

Pusch Ridge senior QB Christian Fetsis earned the Tucson Conquistadores AllSportsTucson.com Star of the Night tonight with his passing and rushing effort in the Lions’ 44-7 win over Sabino in a much-anticipated 3A South showdown at home.

Fetsis completed 5 of 6 pass attempts for 141 yards and a touchdown. He had 13 rushes for 100 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored on a 2-point conversion run.

Pusch Ridge remained unbeaten with a 7-0 record and is 3-0 in region play. Sabino is 5-2 and 3-1.

6A CONFERENCE

TUCSON (3-4, 1-0) at Sunnyside (1-6, 0-1) Region
— Tucson wins 31-30 in OT
— Mark Vargas made a 43-yard FG to put the Badgers up 3-0.
— Tucson blocked the extra-point attempt in OT to escape with the win.

RINCON/UNIVERSITY (3-4, 1-0) at 3A Santa Rita (0-6, 0-4)
— Rincon wins 56-8 FINAL
— Zion Noperi scored on a 97-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter for the Rangers.
— Roman McDowell scored on a 70-yard TD for the Rangers.

5A CONFERENCE

CIENEGA (7-0, 1-0) at Sahuaro (3-4, 1-1) Region
— Cienega leads 49-28 FINAL
— Thomas Webb Jr. had the game’s first score, a 1-yard run to put Cienega up 7-0.
— Webb then scored on a 42-yard run to give the Bobcats a 14-0 lead.
— Cienega QB Jamarye Joiner completed a 31-yard TD pass to Terrell Hayward to put the Bobcats ahead 21-0.
— Geo Owens’ 4-yard TD run increased the lead to 28-0.
— Another TD hookup between Joiner and Hayward — for 25 yards — put the Bobcats ahead 35-0.
— Sahuaro QB Isaiah Grigsby completed a 10-yard TD pass to Damion Wright. He later completed a 61-yard TD pass.
— Terrell Huggins’ 99-yard interception return for a touchdown extended Cienega’s lead in the fourth quarter.
— Joiner capped the scoring on a 36-yard TD run.

Buena (4-3, 0-2) at IRONWOOD RIDGE (5-2, 1-1) Region
— Ironwood Ridge wins 50-15 FINAL

MARANA (5-2, 2-0) at Cholla (3-4, 1-1) Region
— Marana wins 52-6 FINAL
— Trenton Bourguet completed a 22-yard scoring pass to Teon Simmons for Marana.
— Rene Valenzuela put the Tigers up 14-0 with a 3-yard TD run. Another 3-yard scoring run and Zach Roberts’ two-point conversion run put Marana up 22-0.
— Bourguet completed another touchdown pass to put the Tigers ahead 29-0.
— Bourguet’s 36-yard TD pass to Valenzuela increased the lead to 36-0.
— Another Bourguet TD pass gave Marana a 43-0 lead going into halftime.
— Jordan Porter put Cholla on the board with a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter.
— Yet another Bourguet TD pass, a 15-yard connection to Tariq Jordan, increased the lead to 52-6.

Flowing Wells (1-6, 0-2) at POSTON BUTTE (4-3, 1-0) Region
— Poston Butte wins 28-0 FINAL

MOUNTAIN VIEW (6-1, 2-0) at Desert View (3-4, 0-2)
— Mountain View wins 47-11 FINAL
— Mountain View QB Josemaria Alcala completed a pass to Wyatt Adams who made a move for a 14-yard TD.
— Adams then had a 4-yard TD run for the Mountain Lions.
— Varney Larsen scored on a 2-yard run for Mountain View.
— Alcala later connected on a TD pass to Edward Gastelum.
— Gastelum earlier scored on a 1-yard TD run.
— Mountain View’s Calib McCrae tipped a FG attempt and Gbara Mene Bie caught it and returned it 98 yards for the score.
— Gastelum scored on another TD run to give the Mountain Lions a 47-3 lead.
— Gastelum also has an INT on defense.

4A CONFERENCE

Walden Grove (5-2, 1-1) at SALPOINTE (6-1, 1-0) Region
— Salpointe wins 55-7 FINAL
— Bijan Robinson put the Lancers on the board first with an 8-yard TD run.
— Robinson later had a 33-yard TD run, his third scoring run of the night.
— Mario Padilla scored on a 41-yard run for Salpointe.
— Arturo Alcaraz added a 25-yard run for the Lancers.
— Zander Alvarado scored two TDs off blocked punts for Salpointe.

CATALINA FOOTHILLS (6-2, 2-0) at Nogales (2-5, 0-2) Region
— Catalina Foothills wins 35-10 FINAL
— Nogales’ Josue Tapia opened the scoring on a 1-yard run.
— Catalina Foothills’ Dominic Bynum scored on an 11-yard TD run.
— Kevin Riesgo’s 28-yard FB put Nogales up 10-7.
— A 9-yard TD pass from Chris Kowalcek to Luke Mitchell put Catalina Foothills ahead 14-10.
— A 1-yard TD plunge for Kowalcek increased the lead to 21-10.
— Kowalcek’s 23-yard TD pass to Ivan Santamaria to increase the lead to 28-10.
— A 39-yard TD run by Bae gave Catalina Foothills a 35-10 lead.

PALO VERDE (3-5, 2-0) at Rio Rico (1-7, 0-2) Region
— Palo Verde wins 25-13 FINAL

Douglas (0-7, 0-2) at AMPHITHEATER (1-6, 1-0) Region
— Amphi wins 24-13 FINAL

— Ruben Rivera returned a kickoff for a TD in the fourth quarter for Pueblo.

— Another TD run by Fetsis, from 13 yards, put Pusch Ridge up 12-7 in the second quarter.
— Dakota Haynes’ 7-yard TD run increased the lead to 18-7.
— Fetsis and Haynes strike again: Fetsis completed a 46-yard TD pass to Haynes to put Pusch Ridge up 24-7 going into halftime.
— Mitch Maas’ 3-yard TD run increased the lead to 30-7.
— Fetsis adds to his scoring barrage with a 5-yard TD run and 2-point conversion run to increase the lead to 38-7.
— Ryan Garcia’s 7-yard TD run gave Pusch Ridge a 44-7 lead.
