New Arizona football coach Kevin Sumlin, who inherited 16 players in the 2018 class from the early signing period in December, talked Tuesday at his introductory press conference about adding five or six more.
Here’s one:
Cienega quarterback Jamarye Joiner.
‼️‼️After sitting down with my family and a lot of prayer we have decided to shut down my recruiting, and stay home. This is the best for me ‼️‼️ 🐻110% Committed to Arizona⬇️

Joiner has been committed to Arizona, but he kept his options open after the early signing period and had set up official visits to Nebraska, Baylor and Alabama. But the three-star prospect (who might yet get bumped up to four stars, considering the late interest) must have decided that Sumlin and an offense that is friendly to a dual-threat quarterback is the right fit.
Joiner can sign a letter of intent beginning Feb. 7.
Joiner was AllSportsTucson.com’s Southern Arizona Player of the Year last season.
