It was a big night for Southern Arizona softball with Benson claiming the 2A state championship over Camp Verde and Sahuarita beating Winslow to claim the 3A title. It was the fifth state championship for the Bobcats and the third for the Mustangs.

SAHUARITA GAME STORY
In Beach Volleyball Pairs action, Salpointe standouts Peyton Lewis and Abby Russell advanced to the Division I semifinal round where they will face the No. 3 pairs from Perry, Matea Suan and Ellie McDonald Thursday night. Lewis and Russell are seeded No. 2.
No. 1 Canyon del Oro beat No. 9 Coconino 6-1 to set up a 4A softball semifinal rematch with No. 5 Salpointe to be played at Pima West Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Dorados will need to beat the Lancers twice to advance to the 4A championship game. The “If Game” will be played on Friday. If Salpointe wins, then the Lancers will go directly to the championship game scheduled for Tuesday, May 15.
In Boys Volleyball playoffs, No. 4 Salpointe and No. 8 Ironwood Ridge were eliminated in the 5A quarterfinal round.
Desert Christian is in third place at the Division III state Golf Championships held at the Omni Tucson National. The Eagles are trailing Valley Union and Yuma Catholic. Desert Christian standout Johnny Gleason is tied for ninth, seven strokes back of the leader.
