Pima women’s hoops team earns All-American academic honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association announced today its Academic All-American women’s basketball teams and Pima Community College is listed as an honorable mention for its 3.20 team grade-point average (GPA).

To be listed as an honorable mention a team must have posted at least a 3.00 GPA. Barcon Community College, which is located in Great Bend, Kan., was academic team of the year with a 3.72 team GPA.

Four of Pima’s players were either First Team or Third Team Academic All-Americans:

Hailey Goley and Katelynn Roquemore were First Team Academic All-Americans and Alliyah Bryant and Reazsha Benjamin were part of the Third Team.

Goley is a guard from Tanque Verde High School who will be a sophomore in 2018-19.

The others have completed their Pima careers. Roquemore was a guard from Henderson, Nev. Bryant, a guard from Gilbert, averaged 6.9 points a game. Benjamin, a forward, is a Sahuaro High School grad.
