The Tucson Desert Thunder and Marana’s Avengers are competing in today’s bracket play of the Cool Pines Beat the Heat tournament in Flagstaff.
The Avengers are playing this morning at 7:30 against the Arizona Scorpions of Tempe at Thorpe Park. The Desert Thunder, featuring up-and-coming pitcher Julia Holt, are playing at 10:50 a.m. at Thorpe Park against the Arizona SunCats of Scottsdale.
The bracket features 16 teams who were seeded after yesterday’s pool play. Desert Thunder went 2-1 yesterday and the Avengers were 1-2.
A team must win four games today to be crowned champion. The championship game is at 4:30 p.m. at Fox Park.
