Marana QB Trenton Bourguet named APS Digital Print Player of the Week; Football Honor Roll

Trenton Bourguet connected on 17 of 23 passes for 288 yards to help lead Marana past Scottsdale Horizon in an important 5A Conference matchup.

Bourguet hit Diego Miranda on a 17-yard TD pass to cut into the Horizon lead in the first quarter and Bourguet ran one in from 1-yard out to put the Tigers up 14-13 in the second. Bourguet found Isaiah Roebuck from 28 yards out later in the first half for a 21-19 halftime lead.

Xoeius Ratliffe put the Tigers up 28-19 on a long run of his own in the third and T.J. Cephers ran one in from 10 yards out to give Marana a 35-26 lead. Roebuck scored from 5 yards out to give Marana 42-29 lead in the fourth and the Tigers held on from there.

In all, Bourguet threw for two touchdowns and ran for another on 78 yards rushing.

Bourguet will receive his award this week at practice.

Douglas senior running back Manny Mejia rushed for 240 yards on nine carries (26.7 per carry) to lead the Bulldogs past Tanque Verde, 55-6. Mejia helped set the single-game team rushing record (479) and scoring record (55) in the MaxPreps era. The team scored 62 against Cholla in 2000.

The 55 points scored is nowhere near the school record but it is in the top 12 in program history dating back to 1906. The 1925 team averaged 49.5 wins in six victors thanks in large part to a 99-0 win over Tombstone.

Mountain View QB Hayden Parson threw for 242 yards and two TD in a 42-14 loss to Ironwood Ridge.

Buena junior QB Jovoni Borbon threw for 236 yards and 2 TD in a 28-17 loss to Catalina Foothills.

Tucson Sr. QB Jesus Montano threw for 172 yards and 2 TD to lead the Badgers past Phoenix Maryvale 63-6.

Buena Sr. RB Mandrell Garrick caught four pass for 158 yards and two TD against Catalina Foothills.

Mountain View WR Varney Larson caught five passes for 101 yards and a TD against Ironwood Ridge.

Catalina Foothills Sr. WR Dominic Bynum caught two passes for 101 yards and a TD at Buena.

Mountain View WR Calib McRae caught eight passes for 94 yards against Ironwood Ridge.

Flowing Wells WR Michael Ogas had 81 yards receiving against CDO.

CDO RB Stevie Rocker rushed for 173 yards and three TD against Flowing Wells.

Pusch Ridge Jr. RB Ryan Garcia rushed for 154 yards with two TD in a 48-12 win at Rio Rico.

Tucson Sr. RB Gary Love rushed for 131 yards and three TDs at Maryvale.

Ironwood Ridge Sr. RB Nathan Grijalva rushed for 122 yards and a TD in a 42-14 win at Mountain View.

Flowing Wells RB Raashad Henderson rushed for 117 yards with two TD against CDO.

Ironwood Ridge Sr. WR Andrew Cook rushed for 101 yards and a TD at Mountain View. Cook also caught two passes for 73 yards with another TD.

Pusch Ridge So. RB Evan Lovett rushed for 99 yards and three TD at Rio Rico. Lovett also ran back a kickoff 94 yards for a score.

Catalina Foothills Jr. RB Enrique Perez rushed for 90 yards at Buena.

Sunnyside CB/WR Sebastian Olmos had an interception and caught two passes for 56 yards against Gilbert Campo Verde.
