Arizona Wildcats Plan Promotions in Pursuit of 5,000 Fans for WNIT Sweet 16 Game

Information for this report provided by the Arizona media relations department:

Arizona coach Adia Barnes has said more than once that she wants at least 5,000 fans to pack the lower bowl at McKale Center in the Wildcats’ postseason run in the WNIT.

The next opportunity to do that is Thursday’s WNIT home game vs. Idaho at 6:30 p.m.. The Arizona athletic department announced several promotions on Tuesday to help accomplish Barnes’ goal of 5,000 fans.

A limited amount of free tickets will be available to Arizona students. The students can claim these tickets by bringing their CatCard to the McKale Ticket Office during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). After receiving their ticket, the students are encouraged to enter McKale through the ZonaZoo entrance located on the northwest side of the facility.

The school will host a ZonaZoo Spring Kickoff event prior to the game. This event will be held inside the courtside club, located on the bottom level of McKale, underneath the ZonaZoo seating section. The ZonaZoo Spring Kickoff is to celebrate the excitement of the current women’s basketball season and launch the 2019-20 ZonaZoo campaign.

Free food from El Charro will be available to the first 100 Arizona students. The ZonaZoo Spring Kickoff starts at 5:30 p.m.

After the ZonaZoo Spring Kickoff, students are encouraged to sit (or stand) together in the ZonaZoo section with the pep band. Raffle tickets will be distributed to the students in the ZonaZoo section. A variety of prizes will be distributed at halftime, but to be eligible to win, the students must be in the ZonaZoo section.

The athletic department is also launching a military donation program. Fans who want to support women’s basketball in the WNIT, but can’t attend the game, can purchase tickets that will be donated to local military personnel. The deadline to participate in this program is Thursday by noon.

Doors open for Thursday’s game at 5:30 p.m. Free parking is available in campus surface lots starting at 5 p.m. The Cherry garage will charge $5 per vehicle. A limited amount of reserved tickets are available for $10. Regular adult general admission tickets are $8. Kids 3-12 and adults 55 and older can purchase tickets for $5. Fans are encouraged to avoid the gameday rush at the box office and purchase tickets in advance of Thursday’s game.

Women’s basketball season ticket deposits for 2019-20 are now available.Deposits are $40 per seat and can be applied to new season tickets or renewals. New season ticket holders will receive a call this summer to assist with seat selection.
