Flowing Wells 6, Pomona (CO) 5
Derek Villegas went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI to lead Flowing Wells. Jeff Brown went 1-1 with an RBI and he scored 3 runs. Jack Pospisil went 2-3 with a triple and an RBI to lead Pomona. Alana Valdez (W), Villegas and Daniel Davila (S) saw pitching action for the Caballeros with Valdez putting in 5 innings of work. Trevor Abernathy (L) and Connor Bateman threw for Pomona.
Tucson 6, San Marcos (CA) 0
Diego Bejarano went 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead Tucson past San Marcos. Mateo Sierras and Mario Bejarano also picked up RBIs for the Badgers and Gerardo Mungaray hit a double. Diego Sandoval, Brent Hyman and Aiden Johnson had singles for San Marcos. Nicholas Arias (W) and Dominic Rodriguez combined for 10 strikeouts. Hyman, Ian Oakley, Johnson and Aiden Speake took the mound for San Marcos and the crew only gave up 2 earned runs while striking out 8.
Arvada West (CO) 14, Cesar Chavez 2
Dominic Folks went 3-4 with an RBI to lead Arvada West. Braden Thompson picked up 2 hits as did Matthew Verdugo and Evan Hurlburt. Verdugo and Hurlburt had 3 RBI each and Raul Villarreal had a double and an RBI. Victor Guerrero went 2-2 to lead Cesar Chavez. Jesus Avila and William Guzman collected RBIs. Jay Lambert, Addison Southwick, Noah McCandless (W) and Liam Spaw threw for Arvada West and Jose Velazquez (L) and Jaden Bivens took the mound for Cesar Chavez. Velazquez collected 7 strikeouts.
Thursday, March 28
San Marcos 4, Cesar Chavez 3
Logan Ring went 2-2 to lead San Marcos and Joaquin Sandoval had a double. San Marcos led 2-0 after one but Cesar Chavez took a 3-2 lead in the third. San Marcos scored two in the fifth for the win.
Tucson 9, Arvada West 8
Diego Bejarano, Raul Soto Romero, Ruben Kito Castro and Gerado Mungaray picked up two hits each for Tucson. Mungaray had a double and 2 RBI. Bejarano and Josue Barcelo also had doubles. Raul Villarreal and Matthew Verdugo had two hits each for Arvada West. Braden Thomson had a triple. Omar Escobedo, Kenneth Kroese and Barcelo pitched for Tucson and Kyle Tolly, Scotty Novotny, Thompson and Grayson Zinanti threw for Arvada West.
Arvada West took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first but Tucson responded with one run in the bottom half. Arvada West got that run back in the second but the Badgers plated 5 in the bottom of the second to go up 6-5. Arvada West tied it up in the third and scored two more in the fifth to go up 8-6. The Badgers tied it up 8-8 in the sixth and then Nicholas Arias came up with a walk-off single in the seventh to score Castro for the 9-8 win.
Flowing Wells 12, Cesar Chavez 2 (5)
The Caballeros collected 11 hits in a 12-2 win over Cesar Chavez. Alan Valdez went 2-4 with a double, triple and 4 RBI to lead Flowing Wells. Zack Fitzgerald had a double and Daniel Davila had a triple and two RBI. Mike Quinones went 2-3 with an RBI to lead Cesar Chavez. Ernie Armenta picked up the win for Flowing Wells and Jaren Doromal and Oscar Galaviz threw for Cesar Chavez.
Tucson 4, Flowing Wells 1
Diego Bejarano went 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Francisco Olea went 2-4. The Caballeros were limited to two hits (Daniel Davila and Zack Fitzgerald). Diego Ramos and Ruben Villaescusa Galaz threw for Tucson. Galaz collected 6 strikeouts. Davila and Derek Villegas took the mound for Flowing Wells.
Ernie Armenta picked up a ground-out RBI to put Flowing Wells up 1-0 in the bottom of the first but Tucson scored 2 runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth for the win.
Pomona 9, San Marcos 6
Gage Bernal and Ian Dexter picked up two hits for Pomona and Xavier Atencio hit a triple and collected 2 RBI. Carlos Ibarra also had 2 RBI. Jack Winterbauer went 2-4 with 2 RBI for San Marcos and Dominic Roderick went 2-4 with an RBI. Erik Larson had a double.
