Sunnyside senior captain Jazmine Ayala threw a perfect game that included 11 strikeouts in the Blue Devils’ 11-0 win over visiting Walden Grove on Thursday.
Ayala (9-3) now has three complete-game shutouts this season. She has struck out 86 batters and walked 26.

In her last three starts — all wins — against Marana, Cienega and Walden Grove, Sunnyside has outscored the opponent 28-1.
Ayala first gained fame in 2013 when she pitched Sunnyside Little League to the championship of the Little League World Series at Portland, Ore. In the game televised nationally on ESPN2, Ayala pitched a two-hitter in the 9-0 win over McLean, Va.
Sunnyside (13-4) hosts Ironwood Ridge (18-2) in a signficant 5A Southern game tomorrow night. The Nighthawks are 7-0 in section play while Sunnyside is 6-1. The Blue Devils have won five straight games and Ironwood Ridge is on a 10-game winning streak.
