Tucson High School Sports

Southern Arizona Student-Athlete of the Year nominations are open

The Tucson Citizen profiled the city’s finest high school student-athletes from 1957 through 2008. While other local publications flirted with an “Athlete of the Week” section every now and then, the tradition of recognizing only the very best was continued only on the pages of the TucsonCitizen.com website.

We have continued this tradition at AllSportsTucson.com since 2014.

Each candidate will be judged on academics, athletics, leadership, service to their school and on a one-page essay on who influenced them most in their life.

Candidates must be seniors, graduating in 2019 from an AIA affiliated high school. Applications must be submitted by the student-athlete. The application should address each of the points listed above, including an essay that will be published if chosen. No need for transcripts. Supporting letters from teachers are also accepted.

This year, the award comes with a scholarship worth $500.

The deadline to submit your application and essay is June 30, 2019.
