Arizona: Mesa Four Peaks Little League
Northern California: Martinez Little League
Oregon: Wallowa Valley Little League
Southern California: South El Monte Little League

Utah beat Washington 7-6 and Mesa beat Southern California 19-8 Friday night to advance in the winner’s bracket of the West Region Junior Softball tournament. Four more game are scheduled tonight at Arthur Pack starting at 5 p.m.

PLAYER OF THE DAY
Mesa standout Paige Wright went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. She also collected four RBI. As a team, Mesa hit three home runs on Friday.

PITCHER OF THE DAY
Utah’s Payton Lister collected four strikeouts while only giving up two earned runs to help hold off Washington.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
Utah’s Kenlee Clove went 2-5 against Washington but it was her walk-off double with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh that kept the team from Cedar National in the winner’s bracket. Clove had three balls and no strikes so a walk would have tied the game up 6-6 but she found herself with a full count moments later and she delivered on a double to center to bring in Michaela Whitehair and Gwen Dailey.

“I trained my whole life for this kind of moment and it was a full count,” Clove said. “I thought I hit the ball too hard and I saw her charging for it but then she backed up to pick up. I knew we had the win. We love Tucson and we know this is a great place to play softball.”
