Sunnyside started its quest for a West Regional title and berth to the national tournament with a 3-1 win over Northern California on Sunday afternoon at San Jose, Calif.
Sunnyside, which is 8-0 in the district, state and regional tournaments, next plays Southern California on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Ida Price Middle School at San Jose.

Pinedo later scored on Cesar Orozco‘s sacrifice fly to center field.
Sunnyside starter Esteban Young and reliever Miguel Traslavina allowed six scattered singles. Young struck out three and walked three in two innings while Traslavina (the pitcher of record) struck out five and walked three in five innings.
