Sunnyside Junior Little League Moves to Elimination Bracket in West Regional After Loss to Southern California


Sunnyside Junior Little League lost 6-2 to Southern California on Tuesday afternoon and will move to the elimination bracket of the West Regional at San Jose, Calif.

Sunnyside, which suffered its first loss after an eight-game winning streak, will try to stay alive in the regionals when it plays against either Hawaii or Wyoming on Thursday at 1 p.m. Hawaii and Wyoming play each other Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Cesar Orozco, who will be a freshman at Sunnyside High School, reached base on a single in the top of the fifth and later scored on an error to cut the lead to 3-2, but Southern California rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away.

Roman Basurto hit a home run for Sunnyside.
