Flowing Wells Girls Hoops Earns Sportsmanship Award


The Flowing Wells girls basketball team has earned the Sportsmanship Award by the Arizona Interscholastic Association as voted on by officials in the state.

After each game this season, the referees rated the teams of games they worked. If the team received a technical foul or an ejection, it was automatically ineligible to win the award.

Flowing Wells received the most votes.

The team went 20-8 overall and captured the 5A Southern championship with a 9-1 record under coach Michael Perkins.

Junior guard MiLinda Arguellez was one of the best players in Southern Arizona averaging 18.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.
