Pac-12 Cancels Remainder of Men’s Basketball Tournament, Other Sporting Events Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The Pac-12 has made the decision to cancel the remainder of its men’s basketball tournament, all sport competitions and championship events, effective immediately, until further notice because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a statement this morning.

“This decision has been made in consultation with our member universities in an effort to limit the spread of the virus and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes, campus personnel, working and event personnel, and all those who attend Pac-12 events,” the statement reads.

Arizona was slated to play USC in a quarterfinal game today at the T-Mobile Arena at Las Vegas.

The women’s team is projected to be a host team for the NCAA tournament that was to begin next weekend. As of now, the NCAA is not allowing spectators for the games. No word as of yet if the tournament will be postponed or cancelled.

Arizona’s softball and baseball teams were scheduled to host the Oregon State teams this weekend.

The beach volleyball team was scheduled to host the Wildcat Spring Challenge this weekend.

The gymnastics team was scheduled to compete at Boise State on Friday.

The men’s tennis team was supposed to play at Pepperdine today and at the University of San Diego Tournament this weekend.

The women’s tennis team was to have matches at Utah and Colorado this weekend.

The women’s and men’s track and field team were slated to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships at Albuquerque this weekend.
