Senior Letter to Class of 2020: Salpointe’s Trent Strong

AllSportsTucson.com has reached out for high school seniors to write their class a letter during this unique time of their schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s letter was written by Salpointe linebacker Trent Strong, who will next play football at Southern Methodist University. He is the son of former Arizona all-conference baseball player Steve Strong:

Dear Class of 2020,

Although this may not be how we pictured our last few months, our last prom, or our last games, there isn’t a doubt in my mind each and everyone of us is more than ready for what’s to come. I know that Salpointe has been a special place and has created countless memories for all of us, from our first Lancer experience at Step-Up Day, our first Friday Night Lights, our first dance and for some of us our first infractions; I know we’ll miss it all.

I am forever grateful to all of you for making everyday at school a blast, every football game one to remember and for always being the loudest at every assembly. Some of the greatest moments of my life have been playing in front of our home crowd, hearing the Lancer Legion, and being able to look up in the stands and see your faces, it’s something I know I’ll miss forever.

The Class of 2020 was always a little louder, a little rowdier, and a lot more fun than some of the other classes. However, this class always was and always will be something special, doing incredible things on the field and in the classroom. As a class we have over 11 state championships spread across 22 teams, with countless athletes continuing their sport in college. Not only do we excel on the field, but in the classroom as well; we have classmates attending Ivy League universities, Honors Colleges, and joining the Armed Forces. It is safe to say we’re a successful class. Thank you for making my experience at Salpointe so enjoyable. It’s a time I’ll never forget. To the Salpointe Class of 2020, it’s time to say our goodbyes, our farewells, and our see-you-laters. I wish nothing but the best for each and everyone of you. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Trent Strong
